Description
"Sowerby's writing is tight. His observations of people are both wry and withering ... it is incredibly funny. Dark, for sure, but funny." - Break A Leg

“Must you insist on being a misanthropic, poncey arse?”
Selected from nearly 200 entries, the winner of this year’s People’s Play Award is a dark comedy with a twist by Doncaster writer P.W Sowerby.
Meet Benjamin, a writer who can’t write. His manager and his PA are desperate to help him. His sister can’t be ignored. His best friend has a favour to ask, and his orange juice is not from concentrate.
Here at the People’s we pride ourselves on bringing great theatre to the community, and this includes celebrating and championing exciting new writing. The People’s Play Award is for playwrights from the North of England who are yet to have a full-length play performed professionally, and many past winners have gone on to successful writing careers!
